IgboSpeech is an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) software that transcribes Igbo speech into Igbo text. Rather than translating, Igbo convert speech into text.
This technology can be used to generate Igbo subtitles, take meeting notes, transcribe automated voice calls, and use to help teach and improve Igbo pronunciation.
We understand that Nigerians want more languages supported in IgboSpeech. However, the amount of work that went into collecting, annotating, and organizing the data required to build this model is intensive for a small team like ours. There are a lot of linguistic considerations to ensure we are building the highest-quality ASR model. We will only be focusing on the Igbo language.
We periodically open the volunteer sign up form to allow more people to join the team. So if you don't see a sign up button on this homepage, it means we are not looking for more volunteers at the moment.
